Creating Lasting Value towards Economic Sustainability

Aboitiz Construction drives economic sustainability by focusing on robust economic performance, responsible local procurement, and client satisfaction. We leverage innovation for efficiency and actively engage with our supply chain to promote transparency and sustainability. These efforts create lasting value for our clients and communities.

Economic Performance

Aboitiz Construction, the construction arm of the Aboitiz Group, has over 40 years of experience in heavy and light industries, infrastructure, and industrial maintenance. We are committed to building quality structures that empower communities and drive economic growth.

In 2023, our gross profit margin increased from 12.97% to 13.2%, reflecting improved operational efficiency, while EBITDA grew significantly due to more projects and new partnerships with clients.

Total wages and benefits paid to employees rose from 15.36% of total revenue in 2022 to 17.58% in 2023, highlighting our commitment to our workforce.

We are committed to allocating a portion of our revenue to community initiatives through the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. While our investment in community development decreased from 0.04% of total revenue in 2022 to 0.02% in 2023, this shift empowers us to explore innovative ways to implement new projects that benefit the communities we serve.

Our goal is clear: to build for businesses to prosper and communities to thrive.

Procurement Practices and Supply Chain Management

Vendor Code of Conduct

Our core values of integrity, teamwork, innovation, responsibility, and execution excellence guide us in our business decisions, dealings and relationships with our stakeholders. These values, along with our principles on sustainability, helps us achieve our mission to deliver reliable, reasonable and responsible energy to our customers. We believe that our suppliers, one of the Company’s key stakeholders, have a significant role in this endeavor. By supplier, the Company means any entity that supplies goods and/or services to the Company, its wholly owned subsidiaries and controlled entities.

This Supplier Code of Conduct ensures that all of our suppliers will uphold and share the same values and sustainability principles when doing business with the Company, and adhere to our compliance, social, and environmental standards and requirements.

The Company urges its suppliers to promote the same sustainable standards and commitments expected from this Code to their respective supply chain. However, the Company still recognizes that its suppliers are independent businesses and operating in different environments. In compliance with these expectations of doing business with the Company, the Code defines the non-negotiable minimum standards that the Company requires its suppliers and their sub-tier suppliers or subcontractors, with the goal to strengthen our mutual understanding, respect, transparency, trust and partnership toward a more sustainable business.

This Code is in addition to, and not in lieu of, the provisions of any legal agreement or contract between a business partner and the Company. Suppliers must uphold high ethical standards, respect human rights, ensure fair treatment, avoid conflicts of interest, and maintain transparency. They are required to prevent child and forced labor, provide a safe work environment, protect proprietary information, and adhere to anti-bribery and anti-corruption practices, including a ban on gifts to Company employees. Suppliers must also manage environmental impact responsibly and meet quality standards, aligning with the Company’s ethical and sustainability commitments.

Local Sourcing

The company is pleased to note that 98.84% of its vendors are local, highlighting our commitment to supporting the local economy and fostering regional partnerships. By prioritizing local suppliers, we enhance supply chain resilience and promote community development, ensuring our procurement practices positively impact the communities in which we operate while aligning with our sustainability goals.

LOCAL SUPPLIERS

Client Satisfaction Survey

In 2023, Aboitiz Construction achieved a client satisfaction rating of 3.30 out of 4.00. Clients were particularly pleased with our performance in Health and Environment, Safety, and Quality, appreciating our adherence to high standards.

Both our construction and maintenance services scored higher than average, with project scheduling and health/environment aspects noted as significant drivers for maintenance services. Communication was noted as an aspect to further strengthen, which we are committed to do.

We conduct client satisfaction surveys at 50% and 100% completion for construction projects over six months, every six months for recurring maintenance services and upon completion for non-recurring services. This approach helps us regularly assess feedback and implement improvements, reinforcing our commitment to client satisfaction and strong relationships.

Innovation

At Aboitiz Construction, we give importance to the power of innovation to transform a culture where technologies are adopted, processes are reengineered, new ways of working are introduced in our day to day operations.

In July 2023, the Concreate Innovation program was launched to gather solution concepts from employees that can be implemented not only in the corporate office but more importantly in our project sites. The program received 23 proposed solution concepts falling under various categories – process improvement, automation, environmental innovation, safety, among others.

Five solution concepts were selected to undergo the process of ideation to transform them into detailed solutions with an implementation model. These were pitched before our executives where the top three ideas received special recognition and award. With the full support of top management, these ideas are already planned for implementation in selected project sites.

  • DIGITAL-EYES: Real-time project monitoring for progress reporting, quality inspection, and incident management.

  • SINAG: Solar energy in hybrid setup to power project sites to reduce diesel reliance

  • SIMPLISYNC: Real-time tracking of skilled workers and equipment using RFID technology to monitor productivities.

Other solution concepts are also being evaluated for possible implementation considering its potential value to Aboitiz Construction.
